About the Company

Weedfree was first started back in 1990 when Mel Bower  gave up working for British Coal and then turned his passion for gardening into a full time job and
from there on never looked back.

Weedfree started with a sign written ford transit and a small fleet of garden machinery. The first advertising was with a help from some friends a leaflet drop around the local areas and an advert in the local paper and the work soon started to come in. When the work load expanded Weedfree employed it's first member of staff and the business has carried on expanding ever since.

Weedfree eventually out grown the small garage at home a started to look for a new business premises, when we found a unit on Wood Street very close to Mansfield town centre, this is where Weedfree could grow. Weedfree was then looking after 300 gardens per fortnight with only 4 employees.

Then came up for sale a old car repair garage on Westfield lane where all aspects of the business could all be on one site and this was purchased, so the office, machinery and all the vans were moved to the Westfield lane site. We still use this site today.

Weedfree are now running with its second generation of family and 10+ employees and a fleet of 7 vans and over 700 gardens per fortnight along with the hundreds of other jobs that Weedfree do.
